Leon County Schools Class of 2024: Graduation ceremony schedule, guidelines and policies

After four years of essays, tests and late nights studying, the time has come, and for most, the tassel was worth the hassle.

The Class of 2024 will soon take the stages for graduation ceremonies to receive their high school diplomas.

Here's the fine print: The graduates met the requirement of a minimum 2.0 unweighted cumulative grade point average, completed course credit requirements and achieved passing scores on the 10th grade Florida Assessment of Student Thinking for English Language Arts and the algebra 1 end-of-course exam.

All LCS graduation ceremonies will take place May 16 through May 25. Here is what you need to know about the schedule and district guidelines for attendance.

Wednesday, May 15

  • 6:30 p.m. - Lively Technical College, Chiles High School Auditorium, 7200 Lawton Chiles Lane.

Thursday, May 16

  • 7 p.m. - Gretchen Everhart School, Generations Church, 3080 W. Tennessee St.

Friday, May 17

  • 6 p.m. - Leon County Virtual School, Chiles High School Auditorium, 7200 Lawton Chiles Lane.

Tuesday, May 21

  • 7 p.m. - James S. Rickards High School, Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St.

Wednesday, May 22

  • 7 p.m. - Amos P. Godby High School, Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St.

Thursday, May 23

  • 10 a.m. - Adult and Community Education (ACE) Transitions ceremony in ACE building 14, 526 Appleyard Drive.

  • 6 p.m. - Adult and Community Education (ACE), GED graduate ceremony in ACE building 14, 526 Appleyard Drive.

  • 6 p.m. - SAIL High School, Lee Hall Auditorium, Florida A&M University, 1601 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

  • 7 p.m. - Leon High School, Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St.

Friday, May 24

  • 6 p.m. - Success Academy and Second Chance at Ghazvini Learning Center, Turner Auditorium at Tallahassee Community College, 444 Appleyard Drive.

Saturday, May 25

  • 10 a.m. - Lawton Chiles High School, Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St.

  • 3 p.m. - Lincoln High School, Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St.

Guidelines for graduates and attendees

Doors to the Tucker Civic Center will open an hour before the scheduled ceremony. Graduates are asked to arrive by that time with nothing but their cap, gown and tassel, and should leave all other personal items with their families.

For evening ceremonies, the parking lot will open at 5:30 p.m. and for morning ceremonies, 8:30 a.m. Guests will have bags checked and vetted by security and metal detectors will be used.

For those unable to attend, each graduation will be live-streamed on the Leon County Schools Facebook page and then rebroadcast on Comcast Channel 1095-TV.

If you plan to attend a graduation ceremony at the Tucker Civic Center, note that bags must be no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches.

Prohibited items include:

  • Tripods

  • Weapons

  • Selfie sticks

  • Wallet chains

  • Cans, bottles and glass

  • Laser pointers

  • Food, drinks, and alcohol

  • Air horns of any type of noisemakers

  • Offensive banners/posters

  • Sticks or poles of any kind

  • Controlled substances

  • Backpacks

  • Chairs

  • Coolers

  • Wrapped gifts

  • Skateboards

  • Masks

  • Balloons
