(WFRV) – With spring in full swing, motorists in Wisconsin can expect to see more agricultural vehicles on the roadway. However, is it legal to pass one in a no-passing zone?

The Wisconsin State Patrol posted on its Facebook page about its law of the month and passing agricultural vehicles. The post says it is illegal to pass an agricultural vehicle in a no-passing zone.

Officials link to the Wisconsin State Legislature regarding the statute. Below is what the statute reads:

The operator of a vehicle may drive on the left side of the center of a roadway on any portion thereof which has been designated a no-passing zone, as described in par. (a), to overtake and pass, with care, any vehicle, except an implement of husbandry or agricultural commercial motor vehicle, traveling at a speed less than half of the applicable speed limit at the place of passing.

Officials are reminding motorists of this rule as the Wisconsin State Patrol’s Law of the Month coincides with farmers starting the planting season.

The WSP April Law of the Month reminds motorists to share the road as farmers begin planting season. Be safe and patient when traveling near farm vehicles.
