Leesburg police leave ‘letter’ for speeding driver

LEESBURG, Va. (DC News Now) — “Dear young man w/the upcoming court date…” a letter from the Leesburg Police Department (LPD) starts.

LPD made a post on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, Friday saying that officers stopped a man who was driving at 105 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Officials said the traffic stop happened on East Market Street at Battlefield Parkway NE.

We hope you know that your reckless behavior not only endangers yourself but also puts everyone else on the road at a serious risk.

Speeding at such extreme levels not only violates traffic laws but also jeopardizes lives. We sincerely hope that you learned a lesson and will NEVER do this again. Your life and the lives of those on our roadways are too valuable.
