The Lee County Sheriff's Office honored those who served with "passion and devotion" at the annual Fallen Deputies Memorial Service on Tuesday at the Caloosa Sound Convention Center in downtown Fort Myers.
The ceremony honored 11 deputies who died while serving Lee County.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office held its ceremony last week. The ceremonies align with the National Law Enforcement Memorial Week.
The Lee County ceremony began with a presentation of the colors led by Guns and Hoses Pipes and Drums, and the national anthem sang by Cypress Lake Senior High School senior Audrey Barnhouse.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno, in calling their service the "ultimate sacrifice," said they are not remembered one a year, but on each of the 11 days they died.
"We're reminded of the pain and sadness," he said, "whenever the end of watch arrives ... the impact they made is still felt."

The founder of the spyware app pcTattletale said his company is "out of business and completely done" following a data breach over the weekend. The shutdown comes days after a hacker defaced the spyware maker's website and published links containing large amounts of data from pcTattletale's servers, including databases of customers' information and some victims’ stolen data. The now-defunct app had 138,000 customers who had signed up to use the service, per data breach notification site Have I Been Pwned.
