Lawnmower sparks one-acre brush fire in Galax
GALAX, Va. (WFXR)– The Galax Fire Department reports a lawnmower sparked a brush fire off Live Oak Lane on Saturday, April 27.
According to the fire department, crews were dispatched at 5:29 p.m. to the 400 block of Live Oak Lane and found a fire threatening a structure and crowning trees. The fire reportedly was spreading quickly due to high winds.
Crews pulled a line and flanked on both sides of the structure to ensure its protection.

The fire department says firefighters’ quick work saved the structure and kept this fire from escalating further. The brush fire reportedly reached around one acre.
It was reported that the fire was caused by a lawnmower that sparked on fire.
