Law enforcement officers carry the flame of hope to the Capital City

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Flames from all four corners of the Natural State came together in the Capital City Thursday for the final leg of the torch run.

It’s all part of the opening ceremonies that kick off the Special Olympics Arkansas summer games.

Law enforcement members took off on foot carrying the flame of hope and creating awareness for those with intellectual disabilities.

On the capitol steps Thursday morning, the flames joined together along with the athletes and officers.

“Having athletes come together for a two-day event and showing the absolute best they have to offer and the absolute best they can do in any event we have during summer games is pretty inspiring,” Raul Dallas from the North Little Rock Police Department who is also a Special Olympics Arkansas board member said.

Now on their final leg, a 50-mile continuous run to Searcy, are running the flame of hope into Harding Stadium for the opening ceremonies which kick off Thursday night at 7 pm.
