Laura Maxwell appointed to South Georgia Nonprofit Network's Board of Directors

May 21—VALDOSTA — The South Georgia Nonprofit Network announced this week the appointment of Laura Maxwell to its Board of Directors.

Maxwell, the founder and executive director of Called to Care in Valdosta, brings extensive nonprofit leadership experience to her new role, the network said in a press release.

Called to Care is a nonprofit organization that focuses on six key areas: foster care, adoption, missions, youth, trauma-informed education, and case manager support. Under Maxwell's leadership, the organization has made significant strides in supporting vulnerable populations in 22 counties in South Georgia.

As a member of the SGNN Board of Directors, Maxwell will contribute her expertise and insights to help advance the network's mission of strengthening and empowering nonprofit organizations throughout South Georgia, the press release said.

"I am excited to be able to impact nonprofits in South Georgia through SGNN," said Maxwell. "I look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members and the SGNN team to support and enhance the vital work being done by nonprofits in our region."

SGNN was founded as an outgrowth of leadership training sponsored by the Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation in Valdosta. The organization focuses on issues and services of value to its members, which include charitable, educational, scientific, and other nonprofit groups, the press release said. By creating a strong, unified voice, SGNN raises the nonprofit sector's visibility and helps organizations bring the highest standard of service possible to the thousands of constituents they serve across South Georgia.
