It wouldn’t be “Love is Blind” without a love triangle, and the Charlotte season had arguably one of the most dramatic of all time.

Laura Dadisman and Jeramey Lutinski were one of the five couples to get engaged on the Netflix reality show, but the two called it off once she found out he was secretly hanging out with Sarah Ann Bick after a late night at Lost & Found. Sarah Ann was Jeramey’s other connection in the pods, and the two are now in a relationship.

Recently, Laura sat down with CharlotteFive to discuss her overall experience on the show, from their early connection in the pods to where things stand with both Sarah Ann and Jeramey now, a year after filming.

C5: “With Charlotte being such a smaller city, were you worried about potentially bumping into anyone you may have known?”

Laura: “Actually, fun fact … Matthew, I realized afterwards — I only went on one date with Matthew … we were not each other’s cups of tea — but after we got out of the whole experience, and everyone was looking up each other online, him and I had matched on Hinge months prior, like six months prior, and we had chatted a little bit. We’ve never met up, and I had no idea it was the same person.”

C5: “What made you think you’d have better luck finding your person on ‘Love is Blind’ rather than meeting someone face to face or through a dating app?”

Laura: “I can get my own way when it comes to dating … and not give people the time of day, because I was like, ‘Oh, you don’t fit in this box’ or ‘You’re not this age’ or ‘You’re not this, that or the other. You’re not what I typically go for,’ and I knew it was wrong … and so I was like, what better way to connect with somebody then really kind of knowing nothing about that right off the bat except for their personality.”

C5: “What made you think that Jeramey was the one you wanted to pursue?”

Laura: I was so convinced … Day one, I came out of the pods and I was like, ‘That’s my baby daddy’ like I was like, ‘I met him.’ I mean, we had an instant connection … It seemed like he was proud of who he was, where he was going, what he was doing and I was like, ‘Let’s create an empire’ like I was like, ‘This is what I’ve been waiting for is like my equal’ …

“It was so fun to kind of have that connection with someone. Unfortunately, that person doesn’t exist. That person that I dated in the pods? That person doesn’t exist in real life. So, you know, it ended the way it did.”

C5: “Why do you think things were different for you guys outside of the pods versus when you were going through the experiment?”

Laura: “They honestly weren’t in the beginning. You know … We dated for weeks before the whole Sarah Ann incident … and it was good. I mean, things were starting to not add up slowly over time, you know. Some stories would be a little bit inconsistent … but I was still in it. We were still getting married for sure.”

“We were definitely committed to each other, so I thought, so I’m not really sure what happened. It was just, I had this new version of him in front of me that was different than what he had said in the pod and I was trying … [to] piece the two together to make this new version of him … and then the lying and the cheating.”

C5: “So what are your thoughts on that entire situation, and how things kind of played out during the show and after filming?”

Laura: “It’s crazy how things happen as they should, because I was running towards the altar, like, we were getting married. I was in it. I was committed and I feel like the universe said, ‘You are running in the wrong direction’ and they slapped me into a new course because something like that is unforgivable to me …”

“The whole thing is icky. But it’s, it’s what was supposed to happen. You know, ultimately, I don’t know what would have happened at the altar. Had we gotten married, I think I would have regretted it.”

C5: “Do you feel like the love triangle tainted your experience at all?”

Laura: “I think I was a little naive in the whole thing. I think I remember going into it just thinking like …’Oh, well, everything’s gonna play out exactly as it was and you know, that’s it’ — but I think I was a little naive in that not a lot of context was shown, and I didn’t realize that our entire love story would be boiled down to the love triangle. Like there [were] so many happy moments. There were so many fun dates we went on. There were so many laughs we had. There were so many cute moments.”

C5: During your breakup with Jeramey, a lot of the girls were really rallying behind you … How did that feel in that moment, and are you still close with any of the contestants now?”

Laura: “These women are the best part of this entire experience, and I cannot say that enough. There is no part of that that’s fake. The way that we hype each other up online, we do that via FaceTime every other day, via text every single day. Like the support system we’ve all formed for each other is bullet proof.”

C5: “Would you say you’re on good terms with Sarah Ann and Jeramey?”

Laura: “Absolutely not, but when I say I’m not on good or bad terms, they don’t exist to me …

“I don’t have respect for either of them. I do not wish them any ill will. I’ve said it publicly, privately: I think they should be together, and I hope they work out. I hope they make it the long term. We’ll see. But they’re irrelevant to me.”

C5: “Looking at the season as a whole … this started out with 30 men and women, but only one couple walked away married. Why do you think that is?”

Laura: “I think that there were a handful of men who were there for the right reasons. One of them is married. A lot of those other men, you know, weren’t shown — and I think I should say for the right reasons or ready for marriage. I think the majority, unfortunately, of the guys there were, ‘This a TV show. This is fun’ or maybe, ‘This is a fun way to date, or maybe a fun way to get laid.’ And so many of the women — if not arguably, all of the women — were there to get married. They had put in the self work, they were committed to the experiment. I, unfortunately, just think the men fell a bit short.”

C5: “So do you think this season is reflective of Charlotte’s current dating scene?”

Laura: “Yes, I do. I’m gonna take my man that I’m dating now out of the mix of that, because … like, he is a needle in a haystack. But yeah, it’s a lot. It’s a lot of guys that aren’t serious, and there’s a lot of females and, you know, a lot of bros running around thinking, you know, they’re just willing to have their fun even well into their 30s or just not taking things serious or not ready for marriage or commitment. So … unfortunately, yes.”

C5: “Do you mind sharing more about that new relationship?”

Laura: “We met through friends of friends. He met me at a time a couple months after I called off the wedding when I had no interest in men at all. I was like, ‘No way. I’m done,’ but he is unlike anyone I’ve ever dated. It’s kind of crazy to where in the beginning, I was very hesitant. I was like … ‘There’s no way you’re this great. There’s no way you’re checking this many boxes,’ and because of my experience with Jeramey and just past relationships, I’m hesitant … So he’s been super patient with this whole process, and so when the time’s right, I’ll share a little bit more. But right now I’m going to keep it private.”

C5: “Knowing what you know now, would you go back and do the experiment again?”

Laura: “I wouldn’t. I don’t regret it. I went in there, I guess a bit ‘delulu.’ I really thought I was gonna get married … But you know, I didn’t like being on TV. I didn’t like all the cameras in my face. The public scrutiny is wild. I love the fans. I respect the fans. I love this new community that I’ve kind of built or been invited into, but no … I don’t think unfortunately that I would do it again.”
