Large police presence at Holladay elementary school, suspect arrested

HOLLADAY, Utah (ABC4) — A suspect has been taken into custody after an incident near Crestview Elementary School in Holladay Thursday morning, according to the Granite School District.

A large police presence surrounded Crestview Elementary, causing school district officials to alert parents about the matter.

“Crestview Elementary Families, as you may be aware, there is a large police presence in the area around the school. We have taken the students inside out of an abundance of caution. We have confirmed that law-enforcement has indicated that a protocol is not necessary. We will adhere to any further law-enforcement direction,” officials said.

At around 9:10 a.m., law enforcement reportedly took a suspect into custody in the neighborhood around the school.

“This incident was completely unrelated to the school,” officials said.

Details on what caused the police response are limited at this time.

The school day is scheduled to proceed as normal. No lockdown protocol was necessary, officials said.
