Crews battled large grass fire in Cowley County

CAMBRIDGE, Kan. (KSNW) — Crews were on the scene of a large grass fire burning in Cowley County Friday afternoon. It has since been brought under control.

According to the Cowley County Fire Department, it was confirmed just after noon and was burning near Cambridge.

The department said the fire was 3/4 of a mile in size, there are no roads within a 20-mile area of the fire, and no structures were threatened.

Responding fire departments include Burden Fire, as well as crews from Atlanta, Dexter, Winfield, Udall, Latham, and Elk County.
