Fight in Macon Planet Fitness parking lot leaves teen dead, Bibb Sheriff reports

A man was fatally shot early Monday after a large fight broke out around 2 a.m. on the parking lot of the Planet Fitness in the 100 block of Tom Hill Blvd., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office reported.

While en route, deputies were informed that shots had been fired at the location, which is open 24 hours a day.

Upon arriving on scene, they found Sha’quvas Dean, 17, suffering from a gunshot wound and lying in the parking lot.

Deputies said Dean was taken to a hospital by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were still under investigation Monday. Other details were not immediately available.

This is the 18th homicide of the year, which is just three off the pace at this time in 2022, which set a record for murders in Macon with 70.
