Langston Advances to the NAIA National Championship Game

For the first time in program history the Langston Lions are headed to the NAIA national championship game.

Langston knocked off the defending national champion the College of Idaho 58-52 in a defensive slugfest.

The Lions were led in scoring by Cortez Mosley who poured in 15. Langston trailed by as many as seven before an Anthony Roy three tied the game up.

The Lions took the lead with just over 30 seconds to play when Jay Allen-Tovar hit a tough layup in the paint. The following possession, Allen-Tovar swatted a shot that set the Lions on the break. Mosley finished with the slam to ice the game.

With the win, Langston moves to 35-1 on the season and has won 16 straight games.

The Lions square off with Freed Hardeman on Tuesday in search of their first national championship. Tip off in Kansas City is set for 7 pm inside Municipal Auditorium.
