Lancaster woman sentenced for killing neighbor’s puppy

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster woman has been sentenced for her role in the killing of a five-month-old chihuahua in the city.

Loyna Dejesus-Osorio, 53, pleaded no contest in February to charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and simple assault.

She was accused of attacking her neighbor and killing her neighbor’s puppy on Sept. 25, 2022.

Assistant District Attorney Jaimes Spring called the attack “unprovoked,” as Dejesus-Osorio had only met the neighbor once prior.

She was sentenced to nine months of house arrest and seven years probation.

She must also take anger management classes, write an apology letter to the victim, and complete 100 hours of community service at an animal service organization.

Prosecutors originally sought a prison sentence of 6 to 23 months, alleging that she is a danger to the community and has shown no remorse or accountability for her actions.
