Lakota East freshman hospitalized after being hit in crosswalk, sheriff's office says

A 15-year-old student at the Lakota East Freshman Campus was taken to a local hospital after being struck by the driver of a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

The student was walking in a crosswalk on Bethany Road toward Lakota East High School when they were hit just after 2 p.m., the sheriff's office said in a news release. First responders rushed the teen to the University of Cincinnati West Chester Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The sheriff's office has yet to release the identities of the student or driver, who officials said remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
