Lake View High School earns accolades, thousands of dollars

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Lake View High School is now $3,500 richer after it received a donation in recognition of one of the San Angelo ISD School Board members and a pool of prize money following a month-long voting contest.

The first donation, totaling $1,000, was given to the school’s football program in honor of Bill Dendle, the San Angelo ISD School Board’s Treasurer and an alumni of Lake View High School, for his exceptional service to the San Angelo community.

The donation came from Optimum, a national internet service provider with locations in San Angelo, and was given in Dendle’s honor during a special presentation before the school’s football game against Big Spring.

Later, Lake View High School would get another sum of money from Optimum following the conclusion of a voting contest held by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, a sports magazine primarily focused on football teams in the Lone Star State. The online contest saw a massive outpouring of votes from the San Angelo community that resulted in the school taking home the “Community Connection School of the Year Award,” which came with a commemorative trophy and $2,500.

The school accepted the award during a pep rally on March 27, during which San Angelo ISD Superintendent Christopher Moran joined representatives of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football on a stage for a ceremonial presentation.

“It goes to the support and the love that the Lake View community has, the pride that you all have in your high school and your community,” Moran said.
