Lady Gaga Pens a Heartfelt Statement on Breakup with Taylor Kinney: "Please Root Us on"

Lady Gaga has broken her silence following the end of her engagement to longtime love, actor Taylor Kinney. On Tuesday, People confirmed that after five years together, Mother Monster and her handsome fiance, were, in fact, going their separate ways. Early this morning the "Poker Face" singer took to Instagram to address the news, penning a heartfelt message to fans, asking them for their support and understanding during this difficult time.
"Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break," the pop star wrote in the caption of a sweet black and white photo of her and Kinney walking with their arms around each other. "We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
Kinney was first introduced to Gaga on the set of her music video, "You and I," in 2011, and asked the singer for her hand in marriage with a stunning heart-shaped ring on Valentine's Day in 2015.
