[1] Community mourns the loss of NMSP Officer Justin Hare – Friends and loved ones are remembering fallen New Mexico State Police Officer Justin Hare, who was shot and killed on I-40 near Tucumcari. Officer Hare’s impact extended beyond his family and the police force. He forged strong bonds with local businesses and was an active member of the community. Hare leaves behind his girlfriend and two daughters. NMSP will honor Officer Hare with a vigil on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:30 PM at the State Police Tucumcari office.

[2] Verdict reached in first trial for man accused of killing 3 Muslim men in Albuquerque – A jury on Monday found Muhammad Syed guilty of first-degree murder for the July 26, 2022, killing of Aftab Hussein, a 41-year-old Pakistani immigrant in Albuquerque. Both the defense and the prosecution rested their cases on Friday after four days of testimony and 20 witnesses. Syed still faces two other murder trials for two separate killings that took place in 2022.

[3] New Mexico sees two more days of rain showers – More rain and high mountain snow showers will develop in western, northern and central NM this afternoon and evening. The Metro will see the chance for rain, especially during the late-afternoon and evening. More rain is expected in central and northern NM on Wednesday, but the storm will move out of NM on Thursday, which will allow skies to clear and dry out through Friday. Temperatures will climb through the end of the week, with the help of sunshine and westerly winds.

[4] Albuquerque Public Schools holds trades-based career fair for students – Albuquerque Public Schools and Youngblood Worker hosted the third trades-based career fair Monday. Nearly 50 trade industry vendors set up booths welcoming more than 1,400 students to ask questions about trades. Organizers say there will be another trades fair with the Los Lunas School District sometime next month.

[5] La Cueva students raise $6,000 for child’s Make-A-Wish trip – A six-year-old boy from Albuquerque is getting a free trip to Disneyland courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and a special club of students at La Cueva High School. The students call themselves the Make-A-Wish Club. The group of about 80 students from La Cueva High School raised $6,000 to make Emerson’s wish happen.
