[1] 2024 El Santuario de Chimayó, Tomé Hill pilgrimages – Each year on Good Friday many New Mexicans make the trek to El Santuario de Chimayó and Tomé Hill. The Santuario de Chimayó is considered a sacred pilgrimage site. and many people make the journey for the ‘Tierra Bendita,’ or holy dirt there; which many believe has healing properties. People take the pilgrimage up Tomé Hill to reach three crosses that sit on top of the hill. According to Santa Fe County, around 30,000 people make the pilgrimage to Santuario de Chimayó for holy week each year.

[2] Organization seeing highest number of homeless families needing help in ABQ – An Albuquerque organization working to break the cycle of homelessness in the metro says they will be able to help more families on their growing waiting list, thanks to a multi-million dollar grant. Cuidando Los Niños offers free child care and support services for families experiencing homelessness. The organization say sin the past year, the wait list for their services has grown to its highest ever, forcing them to expand their staff. The group is getting a $2 million donation from well-known philanthropist Mckenzie Scott, which will allow them to help more families.

[3] Warmer and windy weather for Easter weekend – Temperatures will be even warmer than Thursday, with highs in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Winds are light for most spots this morning, but the wind will pick up by this afternoon. The winds will gain more speed on Saturday, and Sunday will be even windier, with gusts over 40 to 55 mph across the state. Temperatures will stay mild through the weekend.

[4] City of Albuquerque taking steps to sell Coronado Dog Park – The City of Albuquerque is taking steps to sell the Coronado Dog Park between 2nd and 3rd Street near I-40. The city says the park does not get enough use and the money from that sale could be used in better ways. The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that city council declare the park “not essential” for government purposes. A February appraisal of the 1.79 acres determined the value is just shy of a million dollars. If city council approves the sale, the city says they want to use the money to create a new dog park at Wells Park just a few blocks from Coronado Park.

[5] Isotopes to host season opener on Friday night – The 2024 baseball season is here and the ‘Topes are set to begin on Friday night. The Isotopes will open the season with a three-game homestand against the El Paso Chihuahuas. Friday night’s opener will begin at 6:35 and the first 3,000 fans will receive an ear flap hat. In total, three of the Rockies top prospects will suit up for Albuquerque on Friday.
