WATCH: Kingsport elderly adventure-seeker skydives for the first time

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — 86-year-old Kingsport native Jean Overbay decided one day that she wanted to go skydiving, and that’s exactly what she did.

“I just love adventure,” said Overbay. “I love height. I just like a new experience.”

She chose JumpTN in Greeneville as the site where she would skydive. Accompanied by generations of family members and her neighbors, she said she wasn’t nervous at all. Overbay’s life motto is “If it isn’t dangerous, then it ain’t worth it.”

She spoke about the moment she took the leap.

“It was beautiful,” said Overbay. “I was coming down I think 130 miles per hour out of the plane.”

Search continues a week after Mizzou student Riley Strain reported missing in Nashville

Some of Jean’s great-grandkids dove with her as well. As a cancer survivor, she said not much phases her, but she did say the on-camera interview did make her nervous.

“I loved [skydiving],” said Overbay. “It was great. I’d do it again. That’s how good it was…I’d go tomorrow if I could.”

Overbay said she zip-lined for the first time a few years ago, too. She also loves to travel and has been to Germany twice and many states.
