(FOX40.COM) — On Sunday against the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis etched his name into the franchise’s history books.

Sabonis, who is in the middle of a potentially NBA record-setting season, tied Jerry Lucas for the longest double-double streak in Sacramento Kings history with his 46th on Sunday.

Lucas played for the Kings when they were known as the Cincinnati Royals for seven seasons from 1963-1970 before finishing his career with the San Francisco Warriors and New York Knicks.

He completed his 46-game double-double streak during the 1967-1968 season. Lucas also has the second-longest double-double streak in Kings/Royals history with 30. He accomplished that feat during the same 1967-1968 season.

While hosting the Rockets at the Golden 1 Center on Sunday, Sabonis was able to notch his 46th straight double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the first half of the game. He finished the game with 25 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, although the Kings ultimately fell short to Houston 112-104.

The next opportunity for Sabonis to become the Kings franchise leader for the longest double-double streak comes on Tuesday in Sacramento when the team hosts Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

The two teams last met on Jan. 14 in Milwaukee in an overtime thriller that ended with the Bucks winning 143-142. Sabonis had 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 15 assists in that game.
