Kim Kardashian criticized for promoting appetite-suppressing lollipops: 'You terrible and toxic influence on young girls'

Kanye West‘s no longer the only one in the Kimye family putting people off on social media.

Kim Kardashian has stirred up controversy with her latest Instagram post, a sponsored ad promoting a range of appetite-suppressant lollipops from Flat Tummy Co. According to the brand’s website, the fruit-flavored lollipops are designed to curb hunger cravings and “maximize satiety” thanks to its inclusion of Satieral, a saffron extract that claims to trigger the sensation of feeling full.

The reality star is seen posing seductively with one of the lollipops in the ad, which offers a 15 percent discount to her fans.

Kardashian’s support of the lollipop diet fad — about which health experts have expressed doubt — has been accused of setting a bad, and potentially dangerous, example by suggesting that people should be replacing meals with the “unreal” snacks.

That includes The Good Place actress Jameela Jamil. (It’s the not first time Jamil has called out a Kardashian; she also recently slammed Khloé Kardashian’s “Thin AF” post.)

Many followers of the KKW Beauty creator expressed similar disdain.

“You have got to be kidding me,” read one comment. “This post is completely and totally unhealthy. I am honestly disgusted by this. Eating is good and healthy for you and there’s nothing wrong with eating and there’s nothing wrong with not having a flat tummy.”

“This is so, so wrong,” added another upset fan. “As someone who has been battling and recovering from an eating disorder for five years now, this is awful. This is such an awful thing to promote to an audience. Seeing this makes me so, so sad.”

“This is disgusting,” another critic wrote. “You use your influence to promote this???”

“There’s nothing wrong with earning a living,” added a commenter. “But not at the expense of hundreds of teens who would enter that vicious cycle of insecurity and body shaming. Not at the expense of all these people. Not at the expense of their health. No. I rather be dirt-poor begging on the street than earn money in such a disgusting manner.”

Kardashian has since deleted the post. Flat Tummy’s website states that shoppers should consult their doctors before trying the lollipops and that their product claims have not been “evaluated” by the Food and Drug Administration.
