Kill Devil Hills Fire Department investigating Monday evening house fire
KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) – The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department responded to a house fire near North Croatan Highway Monday evening.
According to officials, crews responded to the 2000 block of Smithfield Street at 5:14 p.m. for reports of a structure fire.
Crews arrived to the scene and found a fire in the utility room, located in the rear of the house. Firefighters were able to contain the fire, ensuring it did not get into the main living area.
No injuries were reported, and the sole occupant of the house was able to safely exit the building.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
