Kids can ride the Topeka metro for free

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Metro is rolling out a popular campaign that will let kids use public transportation for free.

Starting Wednesday, May 15, kids under the age of 18 can ride any of the fixed bus routes at no cost until Aug. 15, 2024.

“This promotion has been one that families in Topeka look forward to because parents, grandparents and others know that their child will be safely transported to their destination at no cost which helps their pocketbook,” said Bob Nugent, Topeka Metro General Manager. “With prices rising on nearly everything, having free transportation for the kids during the summer months helps the family budget.”

Kids wanting to use the Topeka Metro won’t need to provide an ID but bus operators can request proof of age for older youths. Kids under the age of five are encouraged to have an adult supervisor.
