PAYSON, Utah (WJW) — For years, the students at Payson High School in Utah have wanted Kevin Bacon to attend their prom. But it wasn’t until this year, with the school being demolished to make way for a new building, that dance dreams are coming true.

The actor, now 65, of course starred in the 1984 hit “Footloose,” which was partially filmed at the high school.

On Friday, with the help of the “Today” show, Bacon announced he’d be coming back to the school for one last prom.

He told gathered students — many of whom worked hard to make the #BacontoPayson social media campaign a sensation — that the movie that showed off his dancing prowess 40 years ago meant so much to him.

“I have been so impressed with everything that’s been going on there with this crazy idea to get me to come back,” he said.

“Thank you, guys. Let’s dance,” Bacon told the students, causing everyone to cheer.

It is not clear if Kenny Loggins, whose big hit “Footloose” anchored the teen-centric film, is going to be on hand to provide music for the upcoming prom.
