Kern Housing Authority accepting applications for housing assistance

The Housing Authority of the County of Kern announced last week that it has opened waiting lists for the Project Based Voucher and Low Income Public Housing Programs. Both programs offer some form of rental assistance at selected apartments in Kern County.

Applications will be accepted online for those qualified and interested until 5 p.m. May 30. To submit an application, create an account on www.kernhousing.org.

For those without an internet connection, there will also be several in-person application assistance days in May, all from 8 a.m. to noon, including:

* May 11, 1015 Baker St., Bakersfield

* May 14, 1015 Baker St., Bakersfield

* May 15, 312 S. Austin St., Delano

* May 16, 112 Richard St., Arvin

* May 18, 312 S. Austin St., Delano

* May 22, 1015 Baker St., Bakersfield

* May 23 (Senior Assistance Day), 115 E. Roberts Lane, Bakersfield
