On Wednesday, a teenage girl asked Donald Trump aide Kellyanne Conway, who is the first woman to ever run a Republican presidential campaign, the question that has been on the minds of so many: How can she reconcile and rationalize Trump's comments about sexual assaulting women?

The Hill reports that a 17-year-old high school student in the audience of a University of Virginia-sponsored event in D.C. alluded to the 2005 Access Hollywood recording of Trump bragging about grabbing women by the genitals. "Donald Trump has negated claims that he sexually assaulted women but also admitted to a tape where he seemed to be describing sexual assault,” she asked, reportedly to applause. “How do you rationalize that as a woman and also as his campaign manager?”

The question came from Maaike Laanstra-Corn, the daughter of Mother Jones's David Corn.

Though at the time the video was leaked, Conway has said she found Trump's comments offensive, she also criticized Republicans who withdrew their support for him in the aftermath and denied that Trump was boasting about sexual assault. Conway continued to defend Trump, saying he was "gracious and a gentleman" on CNN.

“What you just said was said probably tens of thousands of times during the campaign, on the internet, on TV incessantly, in paid advertising,” Conway said. “All this anti-woman stuff. And you know how America’s women answered? They gave the would-be first female candidate, I don’t know, what was it, 56 percent of the vote, 57?”

“She should have gotten 60 or 62 percent of the female vote. And she did not. And part of why she did not is women tired of the same argument and the same thing that you’re presenting to me now, even though you’re trying to be personally mean about it," Conway continued.

“For you to use sexual assault to try to make news here I think is unfortunate, but it also doesn't matter because Donald Trump promised he’ll be a president of all Americans," she concluded.
