KDOC, KBI investigate death at Hutchinson Correctional Facility

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Corrections and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are investigating a death at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

According to the KDOC, 51-year-old Watson Bradford died Wednesday. He was found unresponsive in his cell in the afternoon.

“Staff began life-saving measures immediately and continued after emergency medical services arrived,” said the KDOC.

Medical services would pronounce Bradford as deceased. The cause of his death is pending an autopsy.

When a resident in the custody of the KDOC dies, it must be investigated by the KDOC and the KBI. The investigation into Bradford’s death is ongoing.

Bradford was serving a life sentence for convictions of first-degree murder, attempted robbery, and forgery committed in Leavenworth County.
