There’s been a ton of controversy in the beauty world lately. Kat Von D recently entered an all-out social media war with fellow beauty guru and former friend, Jeffree Star; Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kits were given an F rating by the Better Business Bureau (although, it was later reevaluated for a higher grade); and now Katy Perry’s CoverGirl makeup line has been hit with a lawsuit by rival brand Hard Candy.

Perry, 31, launched her CoverGirl collaboration line earlier this year, releasing a line of lipsticks, mascara, and a few other cosmetics set to her namesake. According to documents obtained by TMZ, CoverGirl has allegedly infringed on the rights of the beauty brand Hard Candy after seeming to imitate Hard Candy’s logo on its own packaging, leading the rival company to take legal action against executives at CoverGirl’s parent company, Procter & Gamble.

The documents acquired by TMZ stated, “Hard Candy says it’s had trademarks for 10 plus years … and the Katy line is infringing.” Although it’s not specifically stated in the documents, the lawsuit was prompted by a small heart that appears in the logos of both Katy’s and Hard Candy’s lipsticks. Similar, right? Not only is this lawsuit hoping to have all of Katy’s CoverGirl products pulled from the shelves, it also seeks a share in the profits that the items have already made.

Considering how excited Katy has been about her CoverGirl line, it’s sad to see such a passionate project come under fire. “I know CoverGirl has been around forever, and they’re super classic, but, for instance, they never had a black lipstick, and I’m like, ‘Guys, it’s 2016!’” Mirror reports Katy explaining during the launch last April. Knowing this, we’re hoping the star will open up soon about this latest lawsuit.

CoverGirl and Proctor & Gamble have also yet to comment on the lawsuit, but we’re guessing it’s only a matter of time before a public announcement.
