Whoa: Kat Von D Denounces 'Racist' Jeffree Star
Social media feuds continue to be in full force this week after the Kim Kardashian vs. Taylor Swift drama. Now, beauty gurus are getting into the mix, with Kat Von D firing the first shots by publicly denouncing her previous friendship and support of Jeffree Star and his makeup brand.
In an Instagram post, Kat writes that she can no longer back her former friend and his business due to inappropriate behavior, including “drug use, racism, and bullying.” The image shows a large X over Jeffree’s face accompanied by a long commentary on Kat’s decision to distance herself from Star.
The caption reads: “After years of making excuses for, and rationalizing Jeffree’s inappropriate behavior (including, promoting drug use, racism, and bullying) I can no longer hold my tongue after recent events. I know that over the years, many of you were introduced to Jeffree through me, and regardless if you chose to continue to follow him or not, I just would like to disassociate myself from him and his brand from this point on. I plan on posting a video explanation as to why I felt compelled to make such a statement. But for the time being, I simply want to apologize to anybody and everybody who has ever had to deal with any of his negativity. And yes, with a heavy heart, I will be pulling the shade “Jeffree” from my collection. Sending extra love to everyone out there.”
It didn’t take long for Star to respond to Kat, writing a series of tweets that claim he hasn’t talked to Kat in over a year and that she blamed him for untrue accusations before he later had to block her number. See his defensive tweets, below:
According to the Inquisitr, an interview in 2008 revealed that Kat and Jeffree have a long history of friendship, making this outburst all the more confusing. Kat even did a lot of his tattoo work back when she was working at True Tattoo, proving how close the pair had become.
Luckily for us, Kat promised to release a video explaining her post soon. Hopefully it will shed more light on what exactly happened between the two former friends.
