Katy Perry Tells Ellen DeGeneres Why She’s Rocking That New Hairdo

On Ellen, Katy Perry chatted about that buzzed blond ’do of hers. Perry told Ellen DeGeneres that it wasn’t exactly meticulously planned out. “I don’t know if you’ve ever dyed your hair blond, and too blond, sometimes your hair falls out when you go too blond,” Perry explained. “So…”

“That’s the way you handled it,” offered DeGeneres when Perry ran short on words.

“That’s the way I handled it,” agreed Perry. “This is the destination that I showed up to.”

Perry had joked that her new style was a tribute to none other than DeGeneres herself. “So I went into my hairstylist the other day and I was like, ‘I want the Ellen,’” she said. “And I got it.”

“It’s a little beyond the ‘Ellen’ … it’s actually — you went to ‘Ellen’ and past it, and I like it,” DeGeneres said, complimenting her guest’s look.

“It’s like a little Ellen, a little Alfalfa,” Perry added, referencing the famed Little Rascals character. “I love Alfalfa; he’s my hero.”

When DeGeneres asked Perry if she planned to grow her hair back out, Perry indicated she might keep it short for a while. “I really believe that the universe has a plan for this,” she said. “I was making something out of everything. People are saying that you can really see the beauty of your face.”
