Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio Set Hearts Aflutter on Vacation in St. Tropez
Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are proving stars are just like us: We simply want to enjoy a luxurious vacation with some good friends.
The pair, who first met on the set of “Titanic” more than two decades ago, were spotted together in St. Tropez in July after helping raise serious cash at DiCaprio’s annual gala for his foundation, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.
The two looked comfortable and relaxed with each other as they chatted by the pool at DiCaprio’s own villa. The pair also looked like they barely aged since their turns as Jack and Rose, with DiCaprio going shirtless with a simple pair of swim trunks while Winslet slipped into a peach-colored bikini, white cover-up and oversized black sunglasses.
And the duo earned their downtime after helping to raise millions for DiCaprio’s eponymously named foundation, which has raised more than $80 million for the “long-term health and well-being of all Earth's inhabitants” since its inception in 2008.
This year’s gala, held at the Domaine Bertaud Belieu, featured a performance by Lenny Kravitz and honored Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo with the foundation’s “New World Leadership Award” for her “innovative approach to making Paris a model for sustainable urban living and design.”
Megafans of the “Titanic” pair even had the chance to bid on having dinner with both DiCaprio and Winslet in New York City.
And while it’s tempting to think these two may be romantically linked, think again: As Winslet told Marie Claire in 2014, “I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing. It's so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did. He always saw me as one of the boys; I've never really been a girly-girl.”
“We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system,” she said.
