Kate Middleton Turns Heads in Her Most Casual Outfit Yet
Kate Middleton can make just about anything look chic, including the down-to-earth skinny jeans and sneakers she wore this weekend. The Duchess of Cambridge showed off her superb mom style in an all-black ensemble - with no makeup! - after a long day of sailing.
And it looks like she can pull off running shoes just as easily as designer heels ($99, amazon.com):
Kate changed into the comfy clothes after a day on the water with Sir Ben Ainslie, the most successful sailor in Olympic history. The famous British athlete won medals at five consecutive games before retiring in 2012. The future queen arrived at the dock in a nautical-inspired look by Alexander McQueen (which she’s worn twice before!) before suiting up in racing duds.
Kate, Ben, and the rest of the crew then took to the Solent for a training run. The Duchess even took the helm herself, steering the boat for about half the session. “We were all really impressed, she’s clearly done a fair amount of sailing before,” Sir Ben said afterwards. “She had a feel for the boat. It’s a really high powered racing machine and to be able to steer one of those at close to 40 mph for even a skilled sailor is a real challenge and she did a great job.”
After proving her Olympic-worthy skills, Kate left the seaside city of Portsmouth in her dressed-down look. Besides fashion icon, professional photographer, and amazing mom, it looks like Kate can now add competitive sailor to her (very!) long list of talents.
