Clarkson's Farm star Kaleb Cooper has shared the satisfying moment that he used his new promotion as farm manager to try to fire Jeremy Clarkson from his own land.

The breakout star of Amazon Prime Video's series about Clarkson's attempts to get into farming told This Morning that he had been given a new job, and that he had tried to wield his increased powers against his boss.

Cooper also shared his hopes for his children's future in farming, as well as how he has been trying to help farmers' mental health with a rap about his hatred of sheep.

What, how, and why?

Kaleb Cooper and Jeremy Clarkson have had a tricky relationship ever since the former Top Gear star employed lifelong farmer Cooper to help him run Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds.

Viewers of Amazon Prime Video documentary Clarkson's Farm will be familiar with the pair's unlikely friendship, as well as their frequent rows as Cooper loses his temper over Clarkson's decisions about the farm.

So when Clarkson decided to promote Cooper to farm manager in season three, he seized the opportunity to wrestle back control - by trying to fire the driving enthusiast from his own farm.

Cooper told This Morning: "I've got farm manager above my name now. To be honest with you, I think I was probably farm manager before I got the promotion but we'll skip past that and I'm very grateful for the promotion."

A clip from the new season showed Clarkson telling Cooper about his promotion, but getting a surprising reaction as Cooper told him: "You're fired."

Clarkson said: "What? You can't fire me, I'm the boss!," but Cooper told him: "I'm the farm manager, you're fired."

He replied: "I'm not because you haven't heard how this is going to work," as Cooper shot back: "Tell me that, then you're fired."

But Cooper told This Morning on Tuesday of the moment: "It was awesome, but unfortunately he's still here."

The interview comes after Cooper revealed he has his biggest row with Clarkson. Ahead of the new series, he said: "I think in this series we have probably our biggest ever argument." However, their fights never last long.

Cooper said: "But don't get me wrong, I love the man. I think when you're good friends with someone, and you have that amazing chemistry, it makes everything easier. Yes, we can argue, and yes, we can shout at each other, but at the same time, we’re friends."

He added: "Two minutes after an argument, we can just agree to disagree and go for a cup of tea or go to the pub and have a pint. We have a good friendship and a good bond, I firmly believe. We treat each other to dinners, we’ll go out and say, “Who’s paying for this one”, and take it in turns. When it’s my turn we go to the cheaper restaurants."

What else happened on This Morning?

Cooper also spoke about a charity single he had released, a rap entitled I Can't Stand Sheep, explaining: "I wanted to raise the money for charity, but highlight the issue of mental health for farmers. The weather affects that a huge amount."

He added: "There's so many different reasons I hate (sheep). For example, they get up in the morning and think, what do I want to do today, I want to get stuck in a fence and die. That is a sheep's thinking."

The TV star is now a dad of two and admitted he would love his young children to follow him into farming: "Every farmer hopes their kids will follow in their footsteps and take over the business one day. But if they decide to move to London and be an accountant or something, I hope they know I'm never going to visit them there."
