Jury retires in Newark inheritance cash murder trial
The jury has retired in the trial of a woman accused of murdering her disabled mother-in-law for inheritance money.
Elizabeth Vamplew, 77, died from burns and smoke inhalation after she was rescued from her home in Eton Court, Newark, Nottinghamshire, on 15 December 2021.
Karen Vamplew is accused of entering the deceased's bungalow and setting fire to her bed while she slept.
The 43-year-old denies murder at the trial at Leicester Crown Court.
