Lechner allegedly drove away from the scene and was arrested near East Orchard Road and South Havana Street after a bystander rammed their vehicle into his trying to stop him.

He was found with several stab wounds and was taken to the hospital. After Lechner was released from the hospital he was booked into the Arapahoe County Justice Center. The sheriff’s office did not know whether or not the stab wounds were self-inflicted at the time.

The trial began on Monday. Closing arguments were heard Thursday morning before the judge turned the case over to the jury for deliberation.

Sentencing will take place Monday, April 22 at 9 a.m.
