José Andrés's Charity Is Cooking Meals for Hurricane Florence Evacuees
Celebrity chef José Andrés is doing his part to help those affected by Hurricane Florence by doing what he does best: feeding those in need.
Andrés shared on Twitter Friday that members of his organization, World Central Kitchen, are currently in Wilmington, North Carolina serving food to evacuees, first responders, and people in homeless shelters. Andrés is expected to join them within the next few days since he was on a book tour when the storm hit, NBC affiliate WECT reports.

When the natural disaster struck the island in 2017, the Spanish-American chef served more than three million meals in the span of three months with the help of 20,000 volunteers, according to CNBC. He was also part of relief efforts in the 2010 Haiti earthquake, which prompted him to start World Central Kitchen.
On Friday, Hurricane Florence made landfall in North Carolina and forced 26,000 people into more than 200 emergency shelters, CNN reported. At least 1.7 million people in the Carolinas and Virginia have been asked to evacuate, according to the The New York Times.
