Joplin High School student accepted to MIT summer program
JOPLIN, Mo. — A Joplin High School student is one of a select few that will hit the books this summer at a prestigious university.
Joplin High School junior Christian Cavener is one of just eighty US students to be accepted to attend classes at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT this summer. He will be taking a series of stem classes over a six week period, including calculus, physics, life science, and engineering.
“The website, MIT, they say that you can expect around four to six hours of homework a week night, and on weekend nights you can expect similar amounts of homework, so it’s very intensive but the students were selected for it,” said Cavener.
