JOPLIN, Mo. — Several Joplin restaurants are making their national debut, thanks to a new show on Food Network.

Joplin will be featured in an upcoming episode of Food Network’s new series, “Best Bite In Town.” The show’s executive producer is Guy Fieri and it’s hosted by Food Network veteran, Noah Cappe.

In each episode, Noah assembles a Bite Club, featuring two chefs including, Tiffani Faison, Shota Nakajima, Joe Sasto, Aarti Sequeira, and Jet Tila.

Together, they explore the local food scene in cities across the country, visiting six of the most popular spots in each one.

“For years, I’ve been rollin’ out to towns big and small lookin’ for joints serving up amazing dishes. But no matter how many miles I put on the Camaro, I just can’t fit ‘em all into Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. So, I’ve called in my buddy Noah Cappe and the Bite Club to help me out and they are hittin’ the road to find some killer small-town dishes on their own,” said Fieri. “But of course, I’ve gotta mix it up a bit, so we’re throwin’ in a dash of competition!”

For the Joplin episode, those restaurants include Big R’s BBQ, Finn’s, Ghetto Tacos, Han The Sushi Man, Hungry Monkey, and Blackstone Gastropub.

“It was amazing to even be considered. Joplin has so, so many restaurants and for them (Food Network) to come in and scout, it was just amazing. All the other restaurants that they picked too, it was stiff competition. Also, it was fun to see how these shows go down, especially behind the scenes and it took quite a bit of work,” said Jeremy Canada, co-owner of Blackstone Gastropub.

The series began filming their Joplin episode in August 2023, and spent nearly a week in town.

“This series is a whole new ride with every episode culminating in a flavor-packed showdown highlighting the epic eats that these communities are serving up. It’s more than just finding the best bite in town; it’s about celebrating the heart and flavor of each community,” said Cappe.

After scouring Joplin and tasting a wide variety of cuisines, Noah and the Bite Club nominate three exceptional dishes to present to a panel of esteemed culinary judges to determine the Best Bite in Town.

“Regardless of who wins or who loses, being featured on Food Network is a great thing and we’re really excited. We hope we see new people and people from out of town that want to come in and try our food. What I would really like to see is for everybody to try all three respective dishes and kind of give their own best bite in town, and if they think they’ve picked the winner correctly,” said Damien Tiregol, co-owner of Blackstone Gastropub.

Best Bite In Town premieres on Friday, April 12 at 8 p.m. CT on Food Network. The episode featuring Joplin will air on April 19 at 8 p.m.
