Johnson County burger restaurant just closed after 10 years. Here’s what’s moving in

BurgerFi in Leawood’s Park Place is closed for good.

The restaurant sold its last meal at 11635 Ash St. on Sunday, said Josh Kurzban, a franchisee for the burger chain.

“I thank my employees, I thank Park Place for the opportunity and our customers,” Kurzban told The Star on Monday, saying he had no further comment.

BurgerFi, a Florida-based company with dozens of locations across the country, opened the Leawood restaurant in 2014. It sells prime rib burgers, cheeseburger bowls, Texas-style chili cheese dogs and more.

The Leawood spot was its only Kansas City area location.

Officials with CBRE, the realty group that manages Park Place, said that local chicken restaurant Mother Clucker will be moving into the space.

The Nashville-style hot chicken restaurant — started by Derrick and Kylie Foster — first opened in Parlor KC in 2018 at 1701 Locust St.

Mother Clucker opened in downtown Shawnee last year at 5930 Nieman Road.
