Joe Biden and Meghan McCain Had the Sweetest, Saddest Moment Together

Grab the tissues, people.

Joe Biden appeared as a guest host on yesterday’s episode of The View and shared an emotional moment with Meghan McCain, the daughter of his onetime political rival John McCain.

It all began when McCain brought up Biden’s son Beau, who passed away from a glioblastoma in 2015, and her father, who was diagnosed with the same cancer earlier this year. She said, “This is the hard part, bear with me, OK? I couldn’t get through your book, I tried. Your son Beau had the same cancer that my father was diagnosed with six months ago. I think about Beau almost every day, and I was told that this doesn’t get easier.”

Biden, being the amazing human being that he is, didn’t miss a beat and walked over to comfort McCain as tears streamed down her face. The former vice president opened up about the influence John McCain had on Beau and revealed that the only thing that kept him going was hope. “You gotta maintain hope. There’s hope,” he said. “I swear, guys, we are gonna beat this damn disease, we really are.”

Gah, Uncle Joe!
