New Jersey earthquake shakes loose local memories of 2011 seismic activity

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Friday’s tremors felt in northeast Pennsylvania from a New Jersey earthquake were reminiscent of a quake that was felt across the region back in August of 2011.

28/22 News has pulled video from the archives that aired on August 23, 2011, when many people from Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and the Poconos felt the ground shake and were evacuated from office buildings.

In the above video, reporter Eric Deabill spoke with workers who gathered on Courthouse Square in Scranton as they emerged from the buildings.

That quake, centered in Mineral, Virginia, registered a magnitude of 5.8.
