About those Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson dating rumors...
Are Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri back on? Jackson, 51, and Dupri, 45, were rumored to be getting close again at the end of last year, but according to the music producer there’s nothing to see here.
On Tuesday, Dupri laughed off romance speculation on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club saying, “I don’t know anything about it.” When asked if the exes, who split in 2009, were still friends, he responded, “I don’t know if that’s … we’ve always been friends … I don’t know if we’ve never not been friends.”
Dupri added, “Nobody has ever seen us together. … It’s just speculation I guess when somebody gets single. … None of this stuff is actually true.”
“I dated Janet for damn near 10 years. Why would I hide?” Jermaine asked. “Why am I going to sneak around with somebody y’all know I’ve been with?”
In November, E! reported that Jackson and Dupri were reconnecting following Jackson’s split from her husband, Wissam Al Mana. “They are friends before anything, so they are just seeing what happens on the romantic side,” a source said in December.
Around the same time, Us Weekly reported the pair are 100 percent back together and in love.” The magazine claimed that on Dec. 17, Dupri was at Jackson’s party at STK after she wrapped the U.S. leg of her “State of the World” tour. “They were cuddled up and holding hands,” an eyewitness claimed.
Jackson and Dupri broke up around the time of Michael Jackson’s death. In 2016, Dupri told The Breakfast Club he probably caused the split because “he’s not perfect.” When asked if he ever regretted losing Janet, he replied, “I don’t know.”
Last year, Jackson separated from Al Mana, a Qatari businessman, after five years of marriage. They welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Eissa Al Mana, in January 2017.
Jackson has yet to weigh in on the Dupri romance rumors.
