TDOT: John Exum Parkway reopened after truck downed power pole, lines

UPDATE: According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s SmartWay map, the crash has been cleared.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) is diverting traffic from John Exum Parkway on Sunday afternoon after a truck reportedly took down a power pole and lines.

According to a spokesperson for the JCPD, the road closure and diversion are located near Greenway Drive on John Exum Parkway. The department said BrightRidge is on scene assessing the damage.

BrightRidge told News Channel 11 that crews were en route to the scene and the incident caused no initial outages:

BrightRidge crews are responding to the location of a pole and infrastructure damaged by a passing truck. This is a three phase line that will likely require a transformer replacement as well as a pole replacement. There are no outages associated with this incident at this time. A construction crew is not yet on location but preparing to depart for the site. [2:26 p.m.] Repairs should begin shortly but we do not have an estimated repair time at this point.
