JCPD: Man charged with aggravated assault after shooting

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Johnson City man was arrested after he allegedly shot an individual in the leg during an argument on Tuesday, police report.

The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) reported that officers responded to a home in the 200 block of Wilson Avenue regarding shots fired around 4 p.m.

An investigation determined that Marcus Prather, 45, allegedly shot an individual in the leg after an argument, the JCPD reported.

Missing Kingsport infant found safe, father in custody

The victim was reportedly found in a neighboring county with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Prather was charged with the following:

  • Aggravated assault

  • Convicted felon in possession of a firearm

  • Reckless endangerment

He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.
