Jane Fonda Announced to Fans That She Just Had a Cancerous Growth Removed
Jane Fonda has revealed that she recently had a cancerous growth removed from her lower lip. The actress, who has been seen out with bandages on her face this week, was quick to reassure fans during an interview with Build Series on Monday.
"I just want to explain the bandage," Fonda said. "I just had a cancer taken from my lip. I thought it was going to heal in time before I came before you, but it's fine. I just want to explain it. I don't normally go around like this." She was characteristically stoical about the whole thing, insisting that there are far more important concerns for us all to focus on right now.
"Well, the world is falling apart, what's a lip?" she said. Asked whether her doctors had biopsied the growth, she confirmed "Yeah, they did. I'm going to be fine, thanks."
In a Monday Instagram post with her friend Lily Tomlin Fonda made a wry reference to her surgery , covering her mouth as though whispering a secret to Tomlin. "With Lily in NY. I've found a clever way to disguise my lip bandages from removal of cancer," she wrote.
