Jamestown Rural Fire Department extinguishes barn fire on Wednesday

Apr. 25—JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Rural Fire Department extinguished a barn fire on Wednesday, April 24, said Fire Chief Brian Paulson.

The department was dispatched at 5:10 p.m. to 2735 70th Ave. SE, rural Buchanan, North Dakota. Paulson said 20 firefighters and seven units responded and extinguished the fire that was burning a wall of the barn. The fire had spread to pasture land and hay bales and firefighters extinguished that as well.

The cause was a controlled burn that got out of control, Paulson said. There was minimal damage to the wall of the barn, he said.

Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour and no injuries were reported. The livestock that had been in the barn was removed by the owner before JRFD arrived to extinguish the fire, Paulson said.
