With the 2016 NFL Draft less than one week old, it’s safe to say that the Jacksonville Jaguars hype train is full steam ahead. After a successful NFL Draft which resulted in many media outlets pegging the Jaguars as having the best ‘draft class of 2016’, the franchise basked in national media coverage that hasn’t been seen around Jacksonville in quite some time. Expectations are already spiraling out of control, with some predicting Jacksonville to make their first trip to the playoffs since the David Garrard era, back in 2007. We covered those expectations and more here at Cover32, here are our best pieces from this week.

Power Rankings: Ranking the 2016 class of quarterbacks

  1. Expectations for 2016:

The Jacksonville Jaguars made big ripples in the NFL the past two days via the NFL Draft, where they landed Florida State CB Jalen Ramsey, considered by many to be the top overall defensive prospect, and UCLA LB Myles Jack, who I, along with many others, had mocked Jacksonville taking with the fifth overall pick. The Jaguars landed him with the 36th overall pick.”

2. Breaking down recent draftees, Tyrone Holmes and Yannick Ngakoue:

“One of the main concerns around the Jacksonville Jaguars community heading into the 2016 NFL Draft was the lack of edge-rushers on the roster. Six defensive draft selections later, Jaguars fans are starting to breathe a bit easier.”

3. Telvin Smith calls ‘players-only’ meeting before the draft:

Telvin Smith has been a winner for the majority of his life. In high school, he won a state championship. In college, he, along with wide receiver Rashad Greene and safety Jalen Ramsey, helped lead Florida State to a national championship in 2014. Yet in his first two seasons in the NFL, the Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker has won just eight games. Smith has lost 24 games as a professional, more than he did in his six previous years playing football (24).”

4. Top Fantasy Options for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016:

“The 2016 NFL season is months away, but it’s never too early to start thinking about your fantasy football draft. And for the first time in a long time, the Jacksonville Jaguars offense had several relevant play-makers that contributed heavily throughout the fantasy football season in 2015.”

5. Jaguars Reddit Mailbag:

“It’s been a while since we’ve done a Jaguars mailbag, featuring the good folks over at Jaguars reddit. But with the 2016 NFL Draft in the books, and everyone clamoring over the Jaguars selections, I thought it would be a good time to answer some mailbag questions. The buzz around the franchise is the best its been in recent memory, so we received a lot of submissions this week. Let’s get into it.”
