Isabella Strahan Gives 'Loopy' Chemo Update After Short-Term Memory Loss: 'Can’t Remember a Single Thing'

“I’m having a sandwich that I don’t remember ordering,” the 19-year-old said of a medication's side effect

  • Isabella Strahan was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October 2023

  • The 19-year-old has undergone radiation, two brain surgeries and three rounds of chemotherapy

  • She has been documenting her health journey on YouTube to benefit Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center

Michael Strahan's daughter Isabella Strahan is back at the hospital for her third round of chemotherapy for her brain tumor.

On May 21, the 19-year-old student and model posted the latest installment of her YouTube series, where she's been sharing her health journey after having emergency surgery in October 2023 to remove a large medulloblastoma — a type of malignant tumor — in her cerebellum.

In the vlog, Isabella arrives at the Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center in Durham, North Carolina, to get her PICC line removed after 10 weeks. A PICC line — which stands for a peripherally inserted central catheter — uses a large vein in the arm to reach the chest, and she’s been receiving infusions and medications with it.

Isabella said that taking the line out wasn’t painful and she was all smiles heading into treatment.

“Let’s go! Third chemo!” she said.

While in the hospital, the model had visits from her best friend, her twin sister Sophia, her parents and aunt. She laid in bed receiving her medication while eating a cup of crushed ice, admitting that her appetite had completely gone.

"For the past few weeks, I'd say, I had the biggest appetite, and then last week, it just dropped to zero. So, it's annoying," she said.

In addition to the appetite loss, Isabella has detailed several other side effects she’s experienced throughout her chemotherapy journey, including memory loss and rigors.

“I’m having a sandwich that I don’t remember ordering,” she said after mixing up which day it was. “I got this medication that makes me rigor, which is like shake extremely and cold. So I guess I ordered myself a sandwich.”

“Tomorrow’s really my last day of chemo,” she added. “It’s crazy and then it’s my last cycle and then I'm done. It’s insane.”

In another vlog, Isabella gave her viewers an update on her third round of chemotherapy, admitting that she was pretty “loopy” while in the hospital filming the previous vlog.

“It’s been a few days since I’ve done chemo and I didn’t do Vincristine, I’m done with that so I feel a lot better. I’ve just been sleeping for like 18 hours,” she said. “But I’m home.”

“I’m not in much pain,” she continued. “At the hospital, I don’t remember Tuesday because I’m given this drug to protect my hearing and just because I have a reaction to it, they give me Ativan. And for some reason, I can’t remember a single thing about that day. So if I seemed loopy, that’s why.

Isabella said she didn’t film too much of her third round because it went by quickly, sharing her excitement that she only has one more round of chemotherapy left.

“I just want it to be June already,” she added. “That’s the thing, I just wait around for the next time I get chemo and I’m kind of scared once I’m done, how I’m gonna go back to normal life. Because I feel like there’s always gonna be another treatment or something I have to do. But that’s a later problem.”

“Otherwise, I’m doing good,” she said.
