Investigation underway for Benton County hit-run that left woman dead

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – An Albany woman is dead after a possible hit and run on Highway 20 between Albany and Corvallis on Wednesday, according to authorities.

Benton County deputies responded to the area of Hyak Park around 3 p.m. after a farmer reported finding the body of Deborah Rosemary Haikkila. Investigators said the crash likely happened “within the last couple days.”

The suspect vehicle is unknown, but officials said it could be a black Toyota Cross with “potential damage to the front passenger side.”
