Investigation underway after attic fire at a Fresno home

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An investigation is underway after an attic fire that left significant damage to a home in Fresno, the Fresno Fire Department said.

Just before 3 p.m. on Friday firefighters say they received reports of a house on fire in the area of Harrison and Thomas Avenues in Fresno.

Upon arrival, crews saw smoke and flames coming out of the home. They were able to search the house and identified the fire was in the attic. Nobody was home at the time.

Fire officials say they were able to salvage and recover most of the contents inside the home, but there is still significant damage.

As of Friday, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters encourage residents that, if their home catches fire, call 911 and not go back inside.
